Skip to contentNAMSAN TOWER: THE BEST SPOT TO WITNESS SEOUL’S AMAZING CITYSCAPE
If you’re planning a trip to Seoul, Namsan Seoul Tower is a spot you just can’t skip. It’s not just a tower! This iconic landmark gives you a unique perspective of Seoul’s vibrant energy and amazing natural surroundings!
1. BEST TIME TO VISIT
SPRING (MARCH TO MAY): CHERRY BLOSSOMS AND COOL WEATHER
My favorite season to visit Korea! Spring is absolutely magical around Namsan Tower. The trails leading up to the tower explode with cherry blossoms, and it feels like walking through a fairytale. If you visit in late March or early April, you’ll see pink petals framing every view—it’s so dreamy. The weather is perfect too—not too hot, not too cold—just right for exploring outdoors without breaking a sweat. Cherry Blossom Festival Information
SUMMER (JUNE TO AUGUST): NIGHT VIEWS
I’ll be honest, summer in Seoul can get hot, but Namsan Park is a green oasis that feels a bit cooler than the city streets. If you stick to the shady trails or head up to the observatory, it’s totally worth it. At night, the weather is good and the view is unbeatable—the skyline sparkles, and the LED lights on the tower make it feel almost futuristic!
AUTUMN (SEPTEMBER TO NOVEMBER): FIERY FOLIAGE
This season is amazing to visit! The trees around Namsan Mountain turn into this sea of gold, orange, and red—it’s just breathtaking. Hiking up during this season feels like stepping into a painting. The air is crisp, the sky is clear, and the city looks so vibrant from the top!
WINTER (DECEMBER TO FEBRUARY): SNOW-COVERED MAGIC
Even though it is really cold in winter, I think it is underrated at Namsan Tower: snow-dusted trees, a quiet mountain trail, and the city covered in a soft white blanket. It’s peaceful and magical. The views are sharper since the air is clear and transparent, without fine dust, and the holiday decorations around the tower add a festive touch. Remember, it gets chilly!
2. WHAT TO DO
1. ADMIRE THE VIEW FROM OBSERVATORY
The view from the observatory is simply incredible. Whether it’s your first time in Seoul or your tenth, seeing the city spread out below you like a living, breathing map is something you won’t forget.
– Interactive Displays: These are super cool! They highlight landmarks and give you little facts about what you’re looking at. It’s a great way to get your bearings in such a massive city.
– Telescopes: I couldn’t resist trying one of these. Zooming in on the Han River or the palaces from so high up is just fascinating.
– Golden Hour Tip: Go up about an hour before sunset. Watching the sky shift colors while the city lights slowly flicker on is pure magic.
2. LOCKS OF LOVE: A ROMANTIC TRADITION
This might sound cheesy, but it’s actually really cute. You should know that Koreans experience love very intensely from the start, so it makes a lot of sense! The ‘Locks of Love’ area is filled with colorful padlocks left by couples, creating a vibe that feels both happy and hopeful.
3. ENJOY LOCAL CUISINE
Namsan Tower isn’t just about the views—it’s also a spot to indulge in some amazing eats.
– N Grill: This rotating fine-dining restaurant is perfect for a special night out. The fact that the floor slowly rotates means you get a changing view while you dine—it’s unforgettable.
– Hancook: If you want something more casual (and budget-friendly), the Korean buffet is fantastic. You can sample all kinds of local dishes while enjoying the view.
– Cafes: Even if you’re just grabbing a coffee or dessert, the ambiance is great. In winter, sipping a warm latte or in summer, drinking an iced Americano while overlooking Seoul feels amazing!
4. RIDE THE NAMSAN CABLE CAR
The cable car ride is so fun! It feels like you’re floating over the city, and the views are just unbeatable.
– Go for Sunset: The ride becomes extra magical as the sun sets and the city lights start twinkling below.
3. TIPS FOR YOUR VISIT
– Timing: Late afternoons are the best—catch the sunset, enjoy dinner, and see the city lights at night.
– Tickets: Book online to save money and skip long lines! Combo tickets for the cable car and observatory are a great deal.
– Dress Smart: Bring layers if you’re visiting in the cooler months—it gets really chilly up there.
If you’re looking for a place where you can live Seoul’s vibes, enjoy amazing views, and make unforgettable memories, Namsan Tower is where you need to be. It’s not just a destination—it’s an experience that leaves you feeling connected to the city in a way few places can. Trust me, you’ll love it! 🙂
